The facts of the cases, as submitted by them, may be summarized as follows.1.  Tchanturia v. Georgia, application no. 50817/06According to the case file, the applicant, former local governor of the city of Abasha, was arrested on 6 July 2005 on suspicion of misuse of local budget funds. He was charged under Article 333 § 3 (a) of the Criminal Code of Georgia (abuse of power) and remanded in custody for three months by a court decision of 8 July 2004. In the course of the investigation, the applicant’s pre-trial detention was extended several times.On 5 December 2005 the Kutaisi Court of Appeal convicted the applicant as charged and sentenced him to six years’ imprisonment.
