Khachirov, A. Khugayev and S. Pliyev – who were Russian nationals of Ossetian origin and residents of South Ossetia (a region of Georgia which is currently outside the de facto control of the Georgian Government). Applicants 1-4 (see the appendix) are the parents of the three above-mentioned men, who brought, on 9 January 2012, the application both in their own name and on behalf of their missing sons.
